We’ve been testing out the EMU Pistol Pouch, and this is one of those pieces of versatile gear that just makes sense.
What we like about the EMU is that it gives you the flexibility of a nylon pouch without giving up the positive retention you normally expect from their kydex carriers. The kydex insert keeps the magazine secure and provides consistent retention better than other brands we tested, while the integrated pull tabs/shock cord loops give you the option to add another level of security when you need it.
The mounting options are another big plus. The Kydex insert uses the same general bolt pattern as T.REX’s Ragnarok carriers, so you can run it with traditional MOLLE mounting or attach it directly to compatible belt hardware. It also gives you the ability to change the angle from 0°, 15°, 30°, or 45°, making it easy to set up the pouch exactly where and how you want it.
We’ve tested the pistol version with the types of magazines it’s designed around, including double-stack 9mm and slimline mags like the Glock 43X, Glock 48, and SIG P365.
If you’re putting together a new belt setup or just looking for a mag pouch that gives you more mounting flexibility than the typical MOLLE-only option, the EMU is definitely worth a look. It’s simple, low-profile, secure, and gives you plenty of options for how you want to run it.
